About the Farm
Born in 1993 in the rolling hills of Kinihira Sector, Ahishakiye
Daniel was known for one thing: hard work. By day, he navigated the
dusty roads as a moto-taxi driver, carrying passengers and goods
across Ruhango District. But Daniel always dreamed of something
more permanent.
When MICOF launched a campaign encouraging local farmers to plant
coffee, Daniel didn't hesitate. He seized the opportunity with both
hands, planting over 10,000 RABC15 trees. His neighbors called him
ambitious; Daniel called it destiny. Today, he's already preparing
a new farm to expand his growing coffee empire.
The journey wasn't easy. Caring for young coffee trees demanded
relentless dedication. Every morning before sunrise, Daniel would
visit his farm, tending to tasks before handing off to his workers.
When the devastating 2023 dry season threatened his fragile young
trees, he personally ensured they received water, refusing to let
them wither.
He embraced sustainable practices—using manure from his own
cows, applying mulch, and planting shade trees to protect his
coffee while providing natural mulching material. Through droughts
and long days, Daniel's coffee flourished, proving that with
patience, care, and unwavering commitment, even the smallest seeds
can grow into a forest of opportunity.
