Muhazi CWS

Youth Coffee Club Ltd

Lot 5

This competition lot represents the dedication and care that define coffee production at Muhazi CWS. The coffee cherries were selectively handpicked at peak ripeness and delivered to the washing station within 12 hours of harvesting to preserve their quality and freshness.
Upon arrival, the cherries underwent flotation to remove low-density cherries, followed by careful sorting to ensure only the finest cherries were processed. The coffee was then dried under the sun for four days before being rested in a ventilated storage area for 24 hours. After resting, it returned to the drying beds where it was slowly and evenly dried until the optimal moisture level was achieved.
Every step of the process was carefully monitored to maintain the integrity of the coffee and highlight its unique characteristics. This lot showcases the quality standards of Muhazi CWS. Beyond this competition lot, we have the capacity to prepare and supply larger volumes of coffee while maintaining the same high standards of quality and traceability.

About the Farm

At Muhazi CWS, we chose to grow our own coffee because we believe that exceptional coffee begins with exceptional farming. In our area of Muhanga District, many farmers cultivate coffee alongside other crops. We decided to dedicate our land entirely to coffee so that every tree could receive the attention needed to produce outstanding quality.
From the day the seedlings were planted, we have carefully managed every stage of production. Our coffee trees are regularly mulched, properly maintained, and treated at the right time to ensure healthy growth and high-quality cherries. We have followed this coffee’s journey from young plants to productive trees, giving it the care and dedication required to reach its full potential.
Our farm is in Karama Village, Nganzo Cell, Muhanga Sector, Muhanga District, Southern Province, Rwanda, at an altitude of approximately 1,750 meters above sea level, near the Tereza River. The fertile soils, cool climate, and favorable growing conditions contribute to the unique character and quality of our coffee.
This coffee lot represents years of patience, hard work, and commitment. It is more than a harvest; it is a reflection of our passion as farmers and our belief that great coffee starts on the farm. By presenting this lot in the competition, we are proud to share not only a coffee with exceptional quality but also a story of dedication, perseverance, and a deep respect for the land that sustains us.
