Producer Story:
RUBANZANGABO David Farm is known on the name of Gako farm and is the model farm in the area where Huye Mountain Coffee works with advanced coffee trees management. The plantation located in Gako zone in Mbazi sector, Huye district. It planted at 1700-2000m above sea level with Arabica Red Bourbon coffee variaty in 2008. David do all activities required in his farm where he implements pruning and applying organic pesticide for increasing productivity and prevention of disease and pest. Also he applies organic fertilizer and does mulching for increasing soil matter and fighting against erosion and conservation of humidity on coffee plant for long time. The plantation contains shade trees for fighting against the problem of climate change. Huye Mountain Coffee has got several awards in previous years in the international competitions. This year, Gako coffee washing station submitted to Best of Rwanda year 2024 an Anaerobic coffee processed from David Farm and its won with 89.54 score. The cup test for coffee from Gako Farm is smooth body, green apple, juice, jasmine, lemon, complex acidity. It is not just producing good coffee, but David Farm is a good place to learn and experience more about coffee farming in Rwanda.
