The profits from these coffees are applied directly to supporting community groups, empowering women in their communities through better health, education and livelihoods. Producer Story:

Mukabatsinda Sarah leads a hardworking group of coffee farmers in Mbuye Sector, Ruhango District, in Rwanda’s Southern Province. Together, they cultivate 100% Red Bourbon Arabica coffee, grown in one of the best regions on Rwanda’s central plateau. The farms sit at high altitudes of 1,650 to 1,850 meters above sea level, where the rich clay and sandy soils create ideal conditions for growing high-quality coffee.

Although each farmer owns their own land, they unite as a strong team, supporting each other to improve their coffee farms and lives. This group works closely with Tropic Coffee Washing Station (CWS), which provides financial support and training sessions at the start of every season.

These trainings help farmers learn the best ways to care for their coffee trees—from renewing old plants to carefully picking only the ripest red cherries. Thanks to this attention and skill, their coffee reaches an exceptional quality. Their dedication was recognized when their coffee ranked among the top five in the prestigious BOR 2024 competition.

Tropic Coffee CWS also rewards their efforts with bonuses for every kilogram of coffee cherries delivered. This extra income motivates farmers to continue improving their work, supporting their families, and investing in their community.

Beyond farming, the group shares knowledge, overcomes challenges together, and celebrates their successes. Under Mukabatsinda Sarah’s leadership, they work with a shared vision of growth and opportunity. They believe that together they can achieve more than alone.

This group’s story shows that coffee farming in Rwanda is about more than just beans. It is about teamwork, learning, and building a hopeful future. With the support of Tropic Coffee and strong leadership, these farmers are growing not only coffee but also hope and prosperity for their community.
