Producer Story:

High in the mist-covered hills of Rwanda’s Northern Province, coffee is more than a crop—it is the heartbeat of the community. In the lush sectors of Tumba, Buyoga, and Kisaro, 1,100 farmers rise with the first light of day, tending to their coffee trees with patience and care. Each harvest reflects the richness of the land and the dedication of the people who work it.
Among them, 600 farmers contribute an impressive 75% of the coffee processed at the Tumba Coffee Washing Station. Guided by four dedicated field officers, they follow best practices from planting to harvest.
Five farmers, represented by GASHIABAKE Donatien, stand out for their exceptional commitment. Their hillsides are terraced to protect soil, mulched to retain moisture, and shaded to allow slow, even ripening. Blending traditional wisdom with modern Good Agricultural Practices, they produce coffee of remarkable quality.
When their harvest arrived at the Tumba Coffee Washing Station, owner MUGIRANEZA Venuste was struck by the vibrant, perfectly ripe cherries. Recognizing their excellence, he named them among the best farmers and arranged for their coffee to be processed individually, preserving its unique flavor profile.
At Tumba, quality is no accident—it is the result of farmers’ dedication, skilled processing, and a shared commitment to excellence. Season after season, this unity of effort delivers a consistent, remarkable taste that carries the spirit of Rwanda in every cup.
