Grown at 1,880 meters above sea level in Macuba, Nyamasheke District, this Arabica lot was cultivated by SINZIHARA Isaacal and delivered to Rwacof Kanyege Washing Station. The coffee comes from high-altitude farms between 1,800 and 2,100 meters, where healthy Bourbon trees grow across the surrounding hills. At Kanyege, the cherries undergo careful selection, beginning with flotation to remove lower-quality cherries, followed by visual inspection. The selected cherries are then dried on raised beds. Regular turning during drying help maintain consistency and quality. The combination of high-altitude cultivation and careful cherry selection produces a full-bodied and expressive coffee with distinctive flavour characteristics. Well defined chocolate & floral aroma with citric characteristics, structure acidity with a nice caramel flavor's characteristics and sweet with pleasant aftertaste with good dimension & Richness characterize this coffee. RFA certification further reflects responsible production practices throughout the supply chain.

About the Farm
When SINZIHARA Isaacal began growing coffee in 1970, he was
looking for a way to build a better life for himself and his
family. His family was facing financial difficulties, and with
limited access to education, he knew he would have to create
opportunities through the resources available to him.
His journey started on a small piece of land given to him by his
family. Determined to grow his farm, Isaacal also worked as a
casual laborer on other people's farms. He saved what he earned and
gradually used those savings to purchase more land and plant
additional coffee trees. Year after year, he continued to expand
his fields and invest in making his coffee farming more
productive.
The results of that commitment can be seen today. Isaacal now
manages several coffee fields with approximately 6,000 coffee trees
and has become one of the more successful farmers in his community.
But the growth of his farm has meant much more than an increase in
the number of trees.
Coffee income has helped Isaacal give his children opportunities
that were once beyond his reach. He has paid university tuition for
all of them, while some have gone on to study abroad. He has also
invested in livestock and other productive assets, using the
returns from coffee to strengthen his family's livelihoods beyond
the coffee farm.
Looking back at where he started, Isaacal's journey reflects
decades of persistence and careful investment. What began with a
small piece of family land has grown into a farm that has supported
his family's education, improved their quality of life, and opened
doors for the next generation.
He also recognises the role that continued support from partners
such as Rwacof has played in the development of coffee farmers. For
Isaacal, the journey is a reminder that investing in coffee, year
after year, can create opportunities that reach far beyond the farm
itself.
