“I am thrilled to return to Rwanda as Head Judge in the 2024 Best of Rwanda.  It is an honour to be invited by NAEB to work together again with the quality control team, to cup with the national cuppers, (some I have known for 10+ years), to cup the latest innovations at the washing stations and mills. It is a pleasure to once again welcome the International Jury to support Rwanda and discover the best coffees of this season, to recognize and celebrate quality and enhance the lives of the farmers who grow it.“

Why is registration necessary, and what's the process behind it?

Bidders must create an account and register for each auction in which they would like to participate. Some auctions require a registration fee, and some do not. Sample sets are available for purchase for each auction. Procuers select the style and duration of their auction, but all specialty coffee auctions allow for bidding to occur on each lot simultanesouly, meaning that you do not have to wait to place a bid on any lot during the auction. When the clock on the auction counts down to zero, whoever has placed the last, highest bid on a particular lot wins that lot and is responsible for purchasing the entire lot. This auction has two main phases. Phase 1 is the open bidding period where the auction will not have a clock and bidders can place their initial bids. Once all lots have received a bid, Phase 2 of the auction begins. In Phase 2, the clock will start and count down from 3 minutes. If a bid is placed during that 3 min period, then the clock will restart. If the time on the clock runs out (when there are 0 minutes and seconds remaining) before there is a new bid, the auction will end.
